Creative Writing Competition

Dark clouds seep forth from the dreaded lands of the east. Soon a storm will consume the land, devastating everything in its path between the steep inclines of the Silvarea mountain pass and the capital city of Varrock. A challenge has been set for those who have journeyed into the dark lands of Morytania, from which this crisis originates. Any who can account tales of these lands may be eligible for a reward.

The third RuneScape Novel, Legacy of Blood is approaching release on June 19, and RuneSlayer and RuneHQ would like to help you get your hands on a free copy! All you have to do is write an interesting story about Morytania!

Rules

The story must focus on the theme of Morytania.
The story must be new, it can not be a continuation of an existing story, and it must be your own work.
All entries must contain a minimum of 1,000 words. Please try to keep all entries under 10,000 words.
All entries must be received by midnight GMT on June 10.
RuneSlayer and RuneHQ staff are permitted to enter, however, judges are forbidden.
By submitting a story, you give the RuneSlayer Network and RuneHQ the right to publish the story as they see fit.
Entries should be emailed to competitions@runeslayer.com
Only one (1) entry per person -- your last entry is counted as your entry in case of multiples.
Please also submit your RuneScape username, and your RuneHQ or RuneSlayer username in your email.

1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place: All three RuneScape Novels*, 30 Days RuneScape Membership, and a RuneSlayer T-Shirt
4th & 5th Place: Legacy of Blood & RuneSlayer T-Shirt
6th - 10th** Place: Legacy of Blood

* For 1st place, we are working on obtaining copies of the novels signed by Jagex Staff and/or the author
** Judges may determine there are not enough entries for prizes to be given out for 6th through 10th place

June Skilling Competition

Summer break is in full swing for a lot of people, so what better way to start off your summer than by raising your levels with a little extra motivation! RuneSlayer is hosting yet another month long skilling competition, but there are some changes this time!

Rules

The competition will run from June 3 - 30. It will start and end at midnight BST.
Only one skill is tracked each week, starting June 3.
A skill will be randomly chosen at the start of each week (Saturday night, midnight BST).
At the end of the week, the user with the most experience in the week's skill is determined the winner for the week.
Users' experience in the specified skills for each week will be totaled, and at the end of the month, the user with the most combined XP will also be considered a winner.
Users may sign up at anytime, but experience will only be tracked starting when the user signs up, or June 3; whichever date comes last.

Participants' accounts must have membership status on RuneScape in order for experience to be tracked.
Once the competition starts, participants must not change their display names* or they will be disqualified.
- It is the responsibility of the participant to contact a RuneSlayer admin if they change their display name prior to the start of the competition.
- Users can only win the weekly competitions once, but is still eligible for the combined XP reward at the end of the month.

* Change of a display name is allowed at Administrator discretion

We will only track one skill each week, starting June 3
The skill will be randomly chosen at the start of each week (Saturday night, midnight GMT)
There will be a winner at the end of each week for whoever gained the most XP in the skill for that week
There will be one winner at the end of the month for whoever gained the most combined XP throughout the month for each week's skill

The prizes? One month of membership for each!

TzHaar Fight Pits

RuneSlayer and the RuneScape Wiki are once again working together to bring an event to our communities!

On Saturday May 19th, 4 PM Eastern / 8 PM GMT, we will be hosting an event at the TzHaar Fight Caves on world 45 for everyone to come and show off their combat skills (or lack there of in some cases!).

All 10 Penguin Tour

What are penguins?

What is a penguin tour?
On a penguin tour we visit all of the penguins for that week (there are 10) as a group. Basically, everybody follows one person, and that person takes the followers to all the penguins. We always visit penguins that require no quest first, followed by quest penguins, and end with wild penguins (since it is a dangerous area, bring only a bow and no arrows).

Awesome! When does it happen?
The tour happens soon after penguins reset each week. Specifically they happen at 1:30am GMT, and 2:00am GMT on Wednesday morning (for North America this will be Tuesday night). Check out http://www.timezoneconverter.com/ to convert those to the appropriate timezone for yourself.

Multiple Fansite Event

Thanks to everyone that attended the event! We had users from RuneScape Wiki, Zybez, NoobIt, and RuneSlayer attend, making it a wonderful event!

We started off meeting in Lumbridge, then paraded to and around the Grand Exchange and Edgeville.

After that, we headed straight to the Gamer's Grotto & into the Free For All (safe) arena & had a snowball fight using the Air Strike spell. Much fun was had!

Finally we headed to the Wizards' Tower Christmas Event, and battled it out with snowmen!

Overall Skilling Competition

What better way than to start off your 2012 New Year's Goals than with a touch of friendly competition and motivation? We are starting sign-ups RIGHT NOW, so be sure to get your name in before the competition starts on January 1! The competition will end on January 31. Throughout the month, we will track the Overall progress of your skills, and at the end of the month, the winners will be decided by whoever gained the most experience. Sign up here today, and start preparing!

The more people that sign up for the competition, the more prizes there will be, so tell your friends about it! Prizes will be announced at the start of the competition on the 1st, but needless to say, there will be membership to give out, and we may even have a few extra surprises up our sleeves!

Rules

Multiple Fansite Event

Each fansite is unique and they all rally for the needs of players. They have worked very hard organizing a multi-fansite event for the enjoyment of all players of RuneScape.

Participating platinum, gold and silver fansites are coming together on October 1st to offer two events - a drop party, and a free-for-all snowball fight in the deep wilderness. Anyone can attend. Just bring your pink attire, your best attitude, and your willingness to enjoy the game as it was meant to be enjoyed. You might pick up some good loot, or slay a friendly foe.

Multi-Fansite "Field of Pink" Drop Party

Help our fellow community fansites give out millions in rune, treasure trail items and gold! By grabbing them off the ground, of course.

Pink attire is not required to attend this fabulous drop party offering millions in gold and items, but it's highly recommended. Check out Thessalia's Fine Clothes for a free outfit upgrade, and choose Barrows Cerise. See drop list further in the post.

"Pink Suicide" Snowball Fight Free-For-All F2P

If your lust for items wasn't satiated by now, there's another way to get your hands on glory - no, not a glory amulet. Bank your best items (we don't want you to accidentally lose them!), grab a few air runes, a few mind runes, and head to the Rune Rocks. Hit fellow players with a barrage of air strikes and get a chance to win 200K!

All fansites and players will meet in North Edgeville before heading to the Rune Rocks. If your fansite leader is killed in combat before reaching the rune rocks, feel free to take it upon yourself to run there yourself. Return as many times as you like.

200K Prizes
Anonymous fansite leaders will die with 200K in their inventories. If you're lucky enough to get the cash, try not to lose it in a turn of unluck!

What's a Snowball Fight?
It's an event in the wilderness where users bring only enough runes for air strikes. The animation looks like a snowball.

What should I bring?
It's the wilderness - Keep your valuables safe in the bank. Bring enough runes for about 100 air strikes, and food. Be prepared to die.

What About Crashing?
Crashers with rune scimitars and better food are to be expected. Unfortunately, it can't be stopped. Try to just have fun!

I died with my 200K prize - can I get it back?
Sorry, you're out of luck. That's the wilderness, my friend.

Safety First!

Remember to keep your valuable items in your bank!
Don't cross the wilderness ditch if you aren't ready!
Don't follow someone across the wilderness ditch if they're promising cash!
Ignore spammers, and report any malicious users!
