Rules

RuneSlayer Rules
The most recent changes appear in red.
RuneSlayer strives to maintain a mature, respectful and responsible environment that is suitable for all demographics without offending any demographic group, therefore topics that we deem unsuitable, may be removed at our discretion. Because of our diversity we expect all members to abide by a set of rules (that may be edited at any time by RuneSlayer administrators) so that all individuals can partake in a clean and comfortable environment.

REGARDING JAGEX
RuneSlayer is a Silver level approved fansite of Jagex Ltd and therefore the RuneScape Rules are strictly enforce here. Please note, however, that we are NOT Jagex and that posting complaints or accusations against other players here is pointless. Please direct all correspondence with Jagex regarding your Runescape account to Jagex via their Contact Us Forum.

RuneSlayer RULES
The RuneSlayer rules are organized into three groups, similar to the way in which the official RuneScape rules are categorized. Forum rule violation in the categories of Honour, Respect or Security may result in actions being taken against your account, that may include content edits, written warnings, temporary suspensions or permanent bans depending on the severity and frequency of your offense. These rules apply not only to RuneForums, but any and all user areas of RuneSlayer, DawnTips, RuneUnion, RuneScape Times, LegendsHQ, and RSLatinos. Some of our sites and services have rules or FAQs tailored specifically for their needs, please read these additional topics to ensure compliance with our policies:
GROUP 1 - Honour

1.1 - Breaking or encouraging others to break any of Jagex's rules

Violating Jagex's official RuneScape Rules is cause for being permanently banned from the forums. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Discussing how to cheat, hack, or otherwise manipulate the game
  • Selling signatures, images, or other intellectual property for Runescape accounts, items or gold pieces
  • Discussion of private servers
  • Admitting to the sharing of RuneScape accounts
  • Discussion of and/or using unapproved third party software (keyloggers, trojans, unapproved game clients) to gain unfair advantages
  • In game screenshots taken while using worldswitchers or toolkits are not allowed and Jagex highly recommends that these applications are not used.

1.2 - Posting on Behalf of Banned Users/Multiple Accounts

Banned users have violated the rules of this site. Banned users may not ask other users to post on their behalf and doing so will result in actions against your own account. Likewise, making multiple forum accounts is not allowed. Each member is allowed to have and use a single forum account and you are responsible for that account. Having multiple accounts will result in the original account being warned, and the additional accounts being deleted.Note: Once a member has been banned from the board, he or she may not return using another account. Bans and suspensions are handed out for good reason, and attempting to evade a ban or suspension is strictly prohibited.

1.3 - Highly Controversial Topics

These conversations tend to lead to violent outbursts based on strong personal beliefs. Be careful when discussing such subjects as topics that get out of control will be removed and action will be taken depending on the severity. Controversial topics include but are not limited to discussions on drugs or the use of illegal drugs, beliefs/opinions on religion, political subject matter (i.e., new governmental laws, candidates, etc.), abortion, sexual orientation and/or highly controversial current events. This applies to all forums, topics, posts, private messages, profiles, avatars and signatures. We also do not allow posts or discussions containing any references that endorse or disapprove of any religion or lifestyle. Discussions of religion must not advance or inhibit any religion or lifestyle, based on personal beliefs or convictions, and these discussions must not convey any message to nonadherents that they are outsiders or unacceptable. Users may state their lifestyle beliefs, including religious affiliation and display non-offensive religious symbols (Christian cross, Ichthys, Fleur-de-lis, Pentacle, Lotus Flower, Ankh, Star and crescent, Star of David, Menorah, Spaghethys , Yin and yang, etc.), however, they may not engage in philosophical debates or express their specific religious views in an argumentative or defamatory manor. Please note that we never allow religious text or images in our users' signatures, avatars or profiles.

1.4 - Naming Names

Naming people or their characters in a negative light is not permitted. That person is not able to defend themselves or their actions and what seems like an inappropriate action (which can often be a simple misunderstanding) can lead to a negative reaction against that person. If you have been scammed or have heard of someone who was scammed, you must not name names.

1.5 - Advertising

Advertising is considered posting for the sole purpose of linking to or endorsing another site or company and is not permitted. Links to image hosting sites (Photobucket, imgur, TinyPic, ImageShack, etc.), RuneScape dynamic signature sites (Draynor.net, Rsig.eu, etc.) or clan sites may be allowed as long as the advertisement doesn't seem overly demanding. Also, all links must be properly labeled, and may not try to mislead the user into clicking them.Links to RuneSlayer network sites, our affiliates and Jagex sites are always allowed; these include:

Any sites that are harmful, feature people in various stages of undress or that would be considered inappropriate for our younger members will not be tolerated. Posting an external link with a clear purpose to support an argument, inform the public, or offer some sort of entertainment on a site that is not maintained by the poster, doesn't count as advertising.

GROUP 2 - Respect2.1 - Stay on Topic

If you want to discuss a subject that is not currently addressed, create a new topic. Always be specific with your post's title, the subject line should indicate what's inside the topic and what the topic is about. Misleading titles used only to grab attention are not allowed. Always choose the appropriate forum in which to place your topic and, before posting, make sure that the topic has not already been posted recently (by using the Search feature). Please send a PM (private messages) when you wish to talk directly to a specific user or group of users.Do not post any material that is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights without the express permission of the owner. Remote linking to pictures or images on commercial websites without their consent is stealing and is not tolerated.

2.2 - Signatures and Avatars

Signatures:Signatures appear below each of your posts, and may contain any amount of text and spacing as you like, as long as it fits within a width of 700 pixels, contains 4 or less images, and is less than 250kb (256,000 bytes). Essentially, you can have multiple images side-by-side, but they must not exceed the width limit, total image limit, or the total filesize limit.Signatures must be edited from your user control panel, and may not be manually added to your posts.Avatars:Avatars are small images which represent you on the forum. These images may not exceed 100x100 pixels in dimensions, and cannot be any larger than 25kb (25,600 bytes). All forum signatures and avatars are held to the same content guidelines listed here, however, the board administrators reserve the right for final authorization and may remove any image or text regardless of size if it is deemed inappropriate.

2.3 - Irritating Posting Styles/Spamming

In order to maintain an environment that promotes ease in the exchange of information, spamming is prohibited. Spamming includes posting entire messages using excessive formatting (all caps), posting the same message repeatedly, cross posting the same message in multiple forums, making pointless topics or replies, making one-word or smiley only posts, begging, excessive use of smilies/characters/spaces/blank lines/nested quotes, etc. Additionally, do not pointlessly bump old topics unless you're contributing to the topic.Post farming, or posting insignificant replies or topics for the sole purpose of raising your Post Count, is also considered spamming, and is not allowed.

2.4 - Trolling

Trolling is considered provoking another member to receive a certain emotional response, and is not tolerated. All members are entitled to express themselves freely, within reason (as outlined by the rules), without fear of being trolled for it. Attacking a member for their beliefs or for any other reason, whether to intentionally provoke a reaction or for personal reasons, is also trolling. Likewise, backseat moderating, the act of a regular member attempting to moderate the forum on their own (without the help of a RuneSlayer staff member), is considered trolling. Leave the moderating to the moderators and if you witness another user breaking a rule please report their post.

2.5 - Display Names

Your name may only contain capital and lowercase letters, numbers, spaces, underscores ( _ ) and hyphens ( - ). Any name violating these rules may be changed by an administrator without notice.

2.6 - BBCode may be used only for images, links, or non-excessive text

Use of images, flash, or text within the body of a message may be restricted as deemed necessary by moderators for board performance issues. Always convert your images to modern graphic formats before posting. Never use .bmp's as their size is large and bandwidth consuming. You should also 'crop' all images before posting to reduce their physical size and prevent forum distortion.

2.7 - English is the primary language on these forums

We understand that English is not everyone's native tongue. If you post something in another language besides English, you must also post an English translation of it.

GROUP 3 - Security3.1 - Volunteering Personal Information

For your privacy and security, asking for or volunteering certain personal contact information is not permitted. This consists of street address and password/account details. Photographs are permitted so long as they are not pictures of license plates, house numbers, or any of the contact information listed above. Pictures that are particularly revealing are not permitted. But casual pictures at the beach or pool where the person is in a swimsuit, are okay. This applies to all forum posts, avatars and signatures. Posting any of the above information on private messages/forums is permissible at the user's risk.

3.2 - Flaming, Violence, Harassment & Pointless Vulgarity

Mild, intelligent flaming is allowable. However, pointless harassment or excessive or obscene cursing will be edited or deleted. We have a censor in place to disguise certain inappropriate words and replace them with "[censored]". Avoiding it will cause your post to be edited or deleted. Please note that not all words that may be inappropriate are censored, and they may be used in an appropriate manor when necessary. Words that are not on the censor but are used in an offensive manor may be added to the censor in the future and, although we hope to keep the censor as un-invasive as possible, this is really up to the community.Intentionally posting false arguments, intentionally misquoting other users, flames or personal attacks for no other purpose than to incite a negative reaction, annoy others or disrupt a discussion is also prohibited. Posts that are disparaging toward any religion, race, nation, social status, gender, or sexual orientation are strictly forbidden. User names (and profile information) may not be offensive, vulgar, profane, or abusive.Any post using explicitly sexual in nature, an invasion of a person's privacy, abusing our censor, or in any other way violates the law, may be edited or removed and the user may be banned.

3.3 - Impersonation

Impersonating others is not allowed. This includes Jagex staff, RuneSlayer staff, other forum members and famous or well-known RuneScape player. If you claim to be a well-known RuneScape player and there are doubts about your identity, you may be asked by a RuneSlayer administrator to prove your identity in-game. Using the group image of another member group as your avatar is also considered impersonation.

3.4 - Publicly Discussing Secure Information

There are things that are not to be discussed or asked for. Staff issues should never be discussed with non-staff, and asking for a new rank or to be staff is not allowed and severely inhibits your chances from a future promotion. We choose our staff members based on forum activity and behavior, and do not accept applications to choose additional staff unless we specifically request them.Do not publicly discuss the state of specific banned members (asking why they're banned, demanding them to be unbanned, etc). Please PM an administrator with any questions concerning a banned member. Warnings are also to be kept private, between the member and the staff. Do not share your warnings with other members of the forum.Note: We also enforce Jagex's confidentiality rule regarding messages from Jagex: "Messages sent to you by Jagex are strictly confidential and are intended only for the owner of the account to which they are sent. The contents of these messages must not be disclosed to any other person or copies taken."

3.5 - Illegal Acts

All RuneSlayer sites are hosted in the United States of America and members are required to follow United States and international laws, including laws of international organizations of which the United States of America is a member (including the United Nations, NATO, and the Organization of American States). Do not encourage anyone to do anything illegal, including; copyright infringement, file sharing, plagiarism, illegal drug use/underage smoking or drinking, distributing inappropriate/obscene/pornographic/offensive images or harmful files, and linking to web pages which contain such images, keyloggers, viruses or other harmful material.Attempting to hack or scam anyone in any way will result in action against your account and RuneSlayer staff will turn over relevant evidence to all United States organizations responsible for investigating Computer or Internet-Related crime (including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Department of Justice, the United States Secret Service, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Internet Crime Complaint Center). Additional Forum InformationPenalties

The Report Post Function may be used to alert staff members of any inappropriate topics or posts. We have the ability and right to edit or remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time if it is determined that the action is appropriate.
